Our very own golden girls, the iconic Metermaids were hot property Sunday night as celebrity guests for the Channel 9 Flood Disaster Relief Appeal.
Metermaids Felicity Eggington and Leanne McCann were much sought after by the many big name celebrities that joined them at the State Disaster Relief Centre to man the phones to take calls from the Australian public who donated in excess of $6 million on the night.
But who was the only person amongst the likes of Wally Lewis, Wendall Sailor, Police Commissioner Atkhinson, Peter Phelps, Lisa McCune, Steph Gilmore, Karl Baron, Ian Heally, Brad Fitler, Steve Ackerie, Paul “Fatty” Vaughan and Premier Anna Bligh who herself joking said that she was delighted to have a photo with our iconic girls as long as she didn’t look fat (she looked amazing between the girls in her pink tailored suit) ……………..
Well it was our very own local member and aspiring premier John Paul Langbroek, who couldn’t make faster tracks running away from the girls when asked by the media for a photo. Langbroek, aspiring to be a man of the people as our alternative premier was heard saying he doesn’t have his photograph taken with bikini girls. Well John Paul you are in the wrong electorate, after the wrong job and long after you come and go our iconic metermaids will still be doing what they have been for the past 48 years, bringing smiles and happiness into the lives of millions of tourists that visit our golden beaches.
Well done girls.
